Welcome to Safe Child Tourism in Cambodia

 

Social communication as the Don Bosco new frontiers.

The Don Bosco Social Communication Section was opened in October 2007 in the Don Bosco Technical School of Sihanoukville as a program to support the educative activities, improve communication inside and outside the school and offer spaces for dialogue, values and contacts with other institutions. The first group is made by 11 students who has to do a level of two years in social communication in subjects like video, radio, news, website, photography and social work.

Support our Project

The Project of the Social Communication Section is one of the newest in Don Bosco Sihanoukville. The two years program for the boys consist in getting skill in radio, television, journalism, Internet and social work. To do so, the section needs:

  1. A Social Communication Laboratory.
  2. A Television Studio.
  3. A Radio Broadcasting Studio.
  4. Photography Laboratory.
  5. English Laboratory.
  6. Computer room.
  7. Theory room.
  8. Library.
  9. Internet.
  10. Volunteer.

Supporting this project, you support the studies of young people in Don Bosco who would get skill in social communication for their countries being:

  1. Journalists.
  2. Experts in television production.
  3. Experts in broadcasting production.
  4. Skill in social work for NGOs, official institutions and development activities.
  5. Webmasters.
  6. Digital journalists.
  7. Experts in E-Learning.

The social communication technicians for Cambodia will contribute in the development of their country, sensitive to the situation of the most marginalized people, children and women in disadvantage.

Every student needs the following things to fulfill the program. As they come from poor backgrounds, their families can not afford the costs of these things:

  1. A computer.
  2. A camera of photography.
  3. Computer gadgets.

You can support to this project in many ways:

  1. Scholarship: offering a scholarship to one of the students, so the school can get the material for the studies.
  2. Donation of social communication tools such as the ones described above.
  3. Donation to the project according with our needs.
  4. Offering programs for the improvement of the instructors abroad or inside Cambodia.

The following is the list of the students inscribed for the period October 2007 - October 2009. They are in total 10 boys from the Southern provinces of Cambodia. The administration decided to get a small number of students for this new program. During the appliances there were 50 boys and 6 girls who applied for the program, but we can consider to rise the number according with this initial level:

  1. Chan Ratha.
  2. Teav Henglay.
  3. Kin Pean.
  4. Chhin Sieng.
  5. Heng Sambo.
  6. Ouch Sambo.
  7. An Makara.
  8. Sok Sipich.
  9. Khim Kanha.
  10. Khoun Narin.
  11. Kong Mao.

Some organizations have already supported the program:

  1. Donation from Mr Gerard van Hal: with his support, we could arrange the floor for the social communication section and send two instructors to improve their skill in communication technology in a superior center in Sihanoukville.

Current activities: The students of social communication section are having some academic activities and cultural sharing with the students of the Singapore Polytechnic, who are in Don Bosco Sihanoukville between June 1rst and 18. 

Mr. Kim Sean, instructor in the Don Bosco Social Communication Section, with some students of the Singapore Polytechnic. 

May 27 - 30  Mr. Kim Sean attended a seminar of radio broadcasting (sound editing training) in the headquarters of the Equal Access of Cambodia in Phnom Penh.

Don Bosco Radio comes on the air this year again. The program will start once a week to promote the Don Bosco activities and engage of new students to the tech. school.
